Caledonian Software Solutions is a software consultancy in Glasgow, incorporated in July 2026. It was founded by Mubashir Ali and is directed by Saleem Akhtar. We are new, and we are specific about what we are good at.
We take on software development across domains. Much of our current work sits in the structural layer of online retail: e-commerce platforms, product catalogue and fitment data, supplier feed integration, and data normalisation. Our current engagements are in e-commerce and catalogue data systems for the automotive parts sector.
We are growing. As the work expands, we are looking to build a team around the senior guidance of our founder and director. The ambition is simple: uphold the standard the market expects, and deliver solutions that actually resolve the problems they are built for.
Mubashir Ali
Mubashir's experience covers the full life of a software product: independent builds taken from requirements to production, team leadership and data pipelines at a London analytics platform, and large-scale e-commerce and catalogue data systems for a US automotive parts retailer.
That breadth is the point. Backend architecture, data engineering and containerised delivery sit in one pair of hands, so what we build is designed around your business, engineered to production standard, and delivered with the tooling to keep it running and improving.

Python software engineer at the US automotive-parts retailer. A cloud image pipeline synchronising more than 10 million product images, scraping and product-data automation with Scrapy and Django REST Framework, Google Merchant Centre feed pipelines, and a customer-facing Kit Builder shipped end-to-end in 47 days as a solo developer.
